Photoshop Tips
To do a transparent background:
- Open the image. Notice that the Layers palette displays the layer name
as Background.
- Double click on the Background layer. It will
display a Layer 0.
- Accept this name or give it another name.
(It CANNOT remain Background. )
- Using your magic wand or other selection tool,
select the background areas and delete them. (The areas SHOULD display as
transparent pixels.)
- Go to File > Save for Web.
- Choose a GIF file format and click OK.
(the default choices are fine)
Using Photoshop Actions to do Batch Processing for files (for example, to
reduce the resolution and /or file size):
Step 1
Create the Action
(My action resizes the file down to 300 pixels wide and 72 pixels per inch
[for the web], keeping the proportions correct, then saves it as a JPG file.)

Step 2
Open Photoshop without opening ANY files

Step 3
Select Starting folder and Destination folder, along with Action Set
and which Action to run.
It will most likely default to Default Set (which is the ones that came with
Photoshop. We want the one that we created.)

The Source is set to folder so that it will do the Resize4web2 action on EVERY
pic in the folder. Destination folder is set to a different folder so that
I don't disrupt the original, full sized images. Upon completion, you move the
fixed images to whichever web images folder they belong in and you're done!
You're watching TV and Photoshop does all the work!!!!
